Jalapeño Cheddar Burgers

These juicy ground beef burgers are packed with sharp cheddar and fresh jalapeño for just the right amount of heat.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1–2 jalapeños, seeded and finely diced

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • 4 burger buns

  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, mayo, mustard

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a bowl, gently combine ground beef, shredded cheddar, diced jalapeño, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix just until combined.

  2. Form into 3–4 equal patties, pressing a slight indentation in the center of each.

  3. Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat.

  4. Cook burgers for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F.

  5. Toast buns if desired.

  6. Let burgers rest for a few minutes, then serve on buns with toppings of choice.

NOTES

Remove jalapeño seeds for mild heat, or leave some in for extra spice.

Burgers can be cooked in a cast-iron skillet if grilling isn’t an option.

Make ahead option - Patties can be formed ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours.
